NUTRITIONAL THERAPY - WOMENS HEALTH

MY MISSION

My mission is to support and empower women in their life journey.

Starting from menarche through the fertile years, pregnancy and menopause.

The menstrual cycle and menstruation itself are easily affected. Diet, lifestyle and stress will all have an impact on the ease and regularity of the period. It is growing the understanding of the delicacy of the menstrual cycle, of its dependency on nutrition and harmony.

I base my research on scientific studies to pass on the tools to improve the overall wellbeing, using nutrition, lifestyle modifications and supplementation to make long-lasting changes.

WHAT IS NUTRITIONAL THERAPY

Nutritional therapy is applying nutritional science in the promotion of health, that focuses on an individualised program, patient-centred rather than a disease-centred approach.

Each individual is unique with its own history, and every plan is designed ‘ad hoc’ for the client by taking into consideration the lifestyle and needs.

I use a Functional Medicine approach to explore the root cause of your health concerns. After a detailed analysis of your medical history and symptoms, I will create an evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle plan to support you in restoring balance within your body and life.

Nutritional Therapy is considered a Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). It is relevant both for individuals looking to enhance their health and wellbeing and for those with chronic conditions wishing to work with or 'consult' a nutritional therapist in collaboration with other suitably qualified healthcare professionals.

Nutritional therapy is not seen as a replacement for medical advice, and if any ‘red flag’ signs or symptoms come up, I will recommend you to speak with your doctor and open to collaborating with them.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The first consultation will last about 1h. During this time, I will investigate your case history, medications, current diet and lifestyles choices. Together we agree on one or more health goals, for me, to create a realistic programme for you to follow.

What can you expect:

  • A full explanation of my understanding of your health concerns

  • Any vitamin and mineral deficiencies will be highlighted and ways to correct these.

  • Foods that you may be eating which are contributing to ailments will be discussed

  • Foods that may help alleviate symptoms will be suggested and the link explained

  • A detailed nutritional programme including diet, lifestyle and/ or supplements tailored to suit you will be created

  • Any additional functional laboratory tests will be recommended and discussed.

After 4-5 weeks, we will meet for a follow-up consultation. It works on the same principle as the initial but will be based on reviewing the programme and assess which of the suggestions have worked well. Eventual test taken will be reviewed together.

I will deliver your nutrition plan a couple of days later on a bespoke time, so to discuss it together.

THE WOMAN LIFE STAGES:

A woman's body is a fantastic machine, not only can sustain life but also create a new one. Every system in the body must work in balance with the others, in order for the female body to function at its best.

No matter what stages in your life you are in restore health and optimize wellbeing with nutrition.

TEENS

Learning the tools and ensuring a healthier future can be done if we start taking care early in life.

Puberty is an important passage in a teenager life.

During this time, the young lady’s brain is rearranging connections, establishing new patterns of thinking, experiencing more intense emotions, and developing more mature reasoning & decision-making skills.

It is a critical time for establishing good habits.

It’s a time where the body changes and girls start showing curves and look feminine. It is essential in this period to teach girls to not to diet but to get into the habit of healthy eating, exercise, sleep and stress management.

PREGNANCY

Is important during pregnancy to reach and maintain a state of optimum health in order to prepare for a pleasant pregnancy and the delivery of a healthy baby.

I invite mothers to be proactive towards their health, for them and for their child. Research shows that we can influence the baby's life on a metabolic, immune and cognitive level.

If planning to conceive is advisable to start preparing at least 4 months in advance.

PRECONCEPTION AND FERTILITY

When should you start preparing for a baby?

It takes about three months for a sperm to develop and three months for an egg to ripen. It is important to ensure to start this journey by choosing a healthy diet and lifestyle before planning to conceive.

I also invite women who have already noticed an imbalance in their body to bring that change in diet and lifestyle earlier in life to ensure fertility and pregnancy is successful when needed.

MENOPAUSE AND PERIMENOPAUSE

Menopause for a woman is a time of transition into a new phase of her life. For many women can be a difficult one due to a number of lifestyle and emotional factors.

Most menopausal symptoms are due to female hormone fluctuations, namely oestrogen and progesterone.

There is now plenty of evidence to suggest that preparing sensibly for mid-life with a good diet, lifestyle and an exercise program will greatly influence the way a woman experiences her menopause—and beyond.
